Existing between code and organism, it mimics processes of life, decay and extinction, challenging scientific, philosophical and cultural definitions of life. Rather than forcing the virus to fit into existing biological or technological categories, it is proposed as part of a new, emerging category, one that better captures the complexities of digital beings.
The project originated from a custom-built website that acted as a temporary digital ecosystem, remaining live only for the duration of the exhibition.
